About
Concerning Concerned Nazarenes
We give thanks for the Church of the Nazarene. She is the church that taught many of us to read the Scriptures, to pray, and to hope for holiness of heart and life. We write as her children, and we write because we love her.
Concerning these letters
Like the epistles they are named for, these are letters written to a church we belong to. We write about doctrine, leadership, and the decisions that shape the denomination, and we write them as an appeal, not an accusation. We may be mistaken, and we welcome correction.
Concerning how we write
We try to follow the counsel of Ephesians 4:15 and speak the truth in love.
- With gratitude, naming what is good before what troubles us.
- With charity, assuming the best of those we disagree with.
- With care, citing sources rather than repeating rumors.
- With prayer, remembering that the church belongs to Christ.
